Instead of moving away from the launch stand like most launch facilities at Cape Canaveral, the gantry at Complex 19 is designed to pivot from its base and lay flat. After the final Gemini launch, the gantry was left in this position. Nasa photographer Bob Special took an amazing multiple exposure of the gantry lowering process using large format camera and a masking system he designed specifically for the shot.
