The cable way held the cables connecting communication, control, and sensors between the blockhouse and the pad. The cable way at Complex 34 runs above ground from the blockhouse until it reaches the pad area The pad is higher than the blockhouse. At this point, the cable way becomes a tunnel and connects into a system of underground rooms and tunnels beneath the pad. This view is looking back towards the blockhouse at a point where the cable way comes out from under the pad.
Due to the high water table, many of the underground structures at the pads on Cape Canaveral were actually built at ground level and the filled over to make them "underground."
Since the complex has been deactivated, workers report finding alligators in this tunnel on occasion.
