Complex 13 was referred to as Complex "X" during the times it was used for classified launches. Along with these classified missions, Complex 13 was the launch site of Lunar Orbiters 1 through 5.

Thinking that Complex 13 still had the original "A-Frame" style gantry like the one used to launch the Mercury Atlas missions, it was placed on the National Historic Register. The MSS was imploded on August 6, 2005 due to safety concerns over its deteriorated condition. Click here to view the implosion.

At one point, plans were made to make it a tourist attraction, but the high cost of restoration and upkeep kept this from occurring.
