Technically located on Kennedy Space Center property, Complex 39 was originally the Apollo Saturn V launch site. Consisting of two launch pads, 39A and 39B, it was converted to facilitate launching the Space Shuttle. Pad 39A is the site where in 1969 Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins lifted off on the first manned mission to land on another heavenly body - the Moon.
