Sunrise at abandoned Complex 34 is reminiscent of Stonehenge. Once the focus of the American manned space program, Complex 34 is now deactivated. Very little remains of the original complex except for the blockhouse, rocket stand, flame deflectors, and outbuildings.
Complex 34 was the launch site of Apollo 7 which carried Wally Schirra, Donn Eisele, and R. Walter Cunningham into orbit aboard the first Apollo mission.
Complex 34 is also the site of the tragic Apollo I fire which claimed the lives of Gus Grissom, Ed White and Roger Chaffee.
